Selected Kindle books! (Friday Mar 1)

Good morning, readers! It's a new month, and with it come some changes from Amazon for sites like ours. The upshot of it is that we now will post more bargain books than free books in our posts. So you'll see that in our posts starting later this week.

Rest assured though - we've been a leading Kindle site for five years and we will continue to bring you the best selections at the best prices we can find for your reading pleasure. In addition to our daily Books posts, be sure to check out our Spotlight post, Book Discovery posts, and other alerts involving paid books. Doing so helps us keep our ratio of paid books to free books at an acceptable level.

Thanks for understanding. Now, let's get on to the Kindle books!

Alone: The Girl in the Box, Book 1, by Robert J. Crane. (Still free?)

Readers have given this urban fantasy over 90 five-star reviews. Get this for free today!

"The story is fast paced and gritty with a balanced proportion of sci-fi and supernatural, without the usual suspects one tends to finds in books of this genre. I found it engrossing, perhaps because the main character wasn't your typical little girl please feel sorry for me type. Instead she was tough with a smart alec attitude, but still managed to act with the carelessness of an inexperienced youth. I thought the end was brilliant, so much so that it made a shiver run down the back of my neck. I look forward to reading where the author will take that cliffhanger." -- Amazon reviewer

"Skyla and Logan are a great couple. It's interesting how the paranormal elements guides the relationships, etc. While inside I'm routing for one thing, once the guidelines of the angelics become known, I knew it couldn't be that way. But why? I'm excited to continue the next book and learn how the angelic realms will affect Skyla and Logan. I highly recommend this book to young adult and paranormal/urban fantasy readers. Well worth the money and time. A very quick read. Grab this first book while it's free and get hooked on yet another series!" -- Amazon reviewer

Highly rated and bargain-priced today at 99 cents, this book is from the Kalenya fantasy series. Check out the warm reviews!

"There are many twists and turns in this book to keep you hooked. Jacob has so much going on his life but he is still able to keep it together. He even shows compassion when he could easily have gotten revenge on a high school rival. I loved the ending of the story. You have foreshadowing along the way, but you have no idea what's going to happen until you read the end. I loved it! I can't wait to see what is in store for Jacob in the next book." -- Amazon reviewer

Please note that this is the second book in the Kilenya Series. The Key of Kilenya, book one, is available as a free download, and this book The Ember Gods, is available for $0.99 until March 3, 2013. Thank you!

Praise and reviews for The Key of Kilenya:
"The Key of Kilenya is full of adventure and wonderful, mythical-type creatures--totally unique. This book is like Fablehaven meets Harry Potter with a sprinkling of Lord of the Rings. A good, fun, clean read for the whole family." - Jennifer Hurst

"As a mother, it's refreshing to know there are authors writing fantasy, like The Key of Kilenya, that is not dark and depressing." - Kimberly Job

"Andrea balances excitement with thought, external conflict with inner, and
adds just the right mix of mystery and realism." - Karen Hoover

"This is the beginning of a middle grade series that is sure to be great. Both youths and adults will enjoy The Key of Kilenya." - Jewel Adams

"The fantastical elements really feel original. In fact, reading this put me in mind of the creatures you would come across in Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis, because the creatures really aren't the norm." - Lisa

"Get this book. You won't be disappointed unless you have no imagination and don't like books such as the Harry Potter series (JK Rowling), Fablehaven (Brandon Mull), Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus (Rick Riordan) or movies like Stardust, etc." - Karl, Reviewer

Windfall, by L. J. Martin. (Still free?)

L.J. Martin tells another story of a good old-fashioned "man's man," although this one departs from his usual westerns and is in modern-day corporate life. All five-star reviews, and free today.

"I've read several of Larry's western novels, so was anxious to read one that takes place in a modern-day "bedroom and boardroom" setting. I wasn't disappointed. The characters are well-developed and the plot intriguing. I liked moving back and forth between locales, including the ultra-urban San Francisco and the rural ranch. I could easily picture both - and seeing the hero in both helped define his character in interesting ways. Without giving anything away, I have to say that I alternated between loving and hating David - which shows you how well the main character was developed." -- Amazon reviewer

David Drake knows what he wants, in the boardroom and the bedroom, and he'll fight the devil himself to get it. But there are powerful, vindictive, ruthless men who want what he must have, and they, too, will stop at nothing to get it. Revenge is a powerful motivation, and winning is the sweetest. From California to the Caribbean, from back alley's to the most swank boardrooms in the land, David scraps with the toughest and most powerful to win what, and who, he loves.

From the boardroom to the bedroom David Drake intends to get what he wants, but some of the country's most powerful and vindictive men stand in his way...and they must have what David wants, no matter the cost. Revenge is a powerful motive, and sometimes winning is the sweetest....

Blood Red Turns Dollar Green, by Paul O'Brien. (Still free?)

A suspenseful novel from the world of professional wrestling - where there's more violence outside the ring than in. Highly-rated, and free today!

"This is a great novel. Full of shady deals, figurative back-stabbing and literal leg breaking. It's like "The Godfather" with suplexes" -- WWE Superstar, Mick Foley

"Blood Red Turns Dollar Green is one hell of a novel, with shades of Mario Puzo, Elmore Leonard and Michael Connelly. The action is relentless, the characters are shady and the justice is swift and final. Paul O'Brien is the real deal and a rising star in the crime arena." -- Eoin Colfer, International Best Selling Author of Artemis Fowl

This novel contains adult themes and situations.

1972 New York City and a dazed Lenny Long walks away from a crash carrying someone's foot in his hand. He is also searching for the VIP passenger who has somehow disappeared from the back of his overturned van. It's the first day of his new promotion and Lenny has less than twenty minutes to deliver the missing person or a lot of people are going to get badly hurt.

Danno Garland is in Shea Stadium trying to avoid a riot. He's coming to the end of the most successful wrestling card of all time but he's also coming to the realisation that he might not be able to deliver his widely hyped main event. He knows there's more than the eyes of the arena on him and if Lenny doesn't arrive soon, blood is going to be sought. Probably his.

Proctor King nervously watches the show on TV, wondering why his mess-up of a son doesn't already have the world heavyweight belt in his grasp. Arranging this match has taken Proctor four years of pay-offs, double dealing and bone breaking to arrange. If all that effort has been wasted then he might just have to take him a business trip to New York.

Lenny, Danno and Proctor. Three men with pieces of the puzzle but none with the full picture.

When they do piece it all together, the 'fake' world of professional wrestling is going to get very real.
